Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe Awards Local High School Seniors Scholarships to UCC

The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians awarded scholarships totaling $21,000 for local high school seniors that will be attending UCC in the fall of 2024. An award ceremony took place on May 5, 2024, at Seven Feathers Casino Resort.

High School Students Explore Career Possibilities at UCC Trades Showcase

On May 9, UCC hosted a Trades Showcase and Career Day featuring presentations and demonstrations from employers across Douglas County and hands-on experiences within UCC programs. The day’s events opened with a keynote speaker, Tony Ramm, the vice president of manufacturing at Roseburg Forest Products, who provided career insights for the region’s future workforce.

UCC, RPS Boards of Education Partner to Support Local Youth, Industry

The Umpqua Community College and Roseburg Public Schools Boards of Education met Wednesday to discuss joint efforts to guide students into high-wage, in-demand careers located in Douglas County. The joint meeting held at UCC marks the first time the two boards have teamed up on collective efforts to serve students, industry and the community.

Future Students Sign Letters of Intent to Commit to CTE Programs in the Fall

Future UCC career and technical education students representing area high schools took part in CTE Signing Day on April 18, 2024. Students signing letters of intent will begin the journey toward earning a degree or certificate paving the way to fulfilling careers.

UCC Announces 2024 Winter Term Honor Roll

The Umpqua Community College (UCC) Director of Registration and Records has announced the 2024 Winter Term Honor Roll. The President’s List (3.75 or higher GPA) is comprised of 300 full-time students (12 credits or more), and 122 students are on the Dean's List (3.74 to 3.50 GPA).

UCC Announces Campus Closure

Earlier this morning, UCC decided to close the UCC campuses immediately in response to a security threat in order to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, faculty, and community. The issue has been resolved and campus will reopen on Feb. 27, 2024.

Over 220 Students Discover Future Opportunities at UCC Healthcare Career Day

Highschool students from across Douglas County gathered for a full day of sampling a variety of careers in healthcare, in Jacoby Auditorium, Health Nursing and Science Center (HNSC), and the Tech Center, EMS program area. The day opened with a welcome message from Dr. Rachel Pokrandt, UCC president, and featured an inspirational keynote speaker, Christin Rutledge, Director Area Health Education Center Southwest from Aviva. Students spent the morning and afternoon listening to healthcare industry professionals, viewing demonstrations, and taking part in hands-on activities which included areas such as Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Chemistry, Phlebotomy, Mortuary Science, Pharmacy, Ultrasound, EKG, EMS, Dental, Forensics, and Health Sciences.
